Excellent post, thanks. I would add that it's a good prayer for any time, not just Mass. I pray it every morning, along with the Angele Dei, for protection in the day to come.
Thanks for including reference and link to the Savvin interview. Oh how I wish our Western apologists for Putin had a better understanding of the religious and political amalgamation of Byzantine caesaropapism and communist power grabbing driving the current Russian regime. They'd rather paint Zelensky as a greedy, corrupt Jew and Ukraine as a CIA puppet than interview someone like Abp. Shevchuk or Savvin.
Thank you for a much appreciated overview of the Leonine Prayers. In the early 1960's before the total destruction of our Liturgy the Pastor at my Parish (St Ambrose, Bristol, VT), Fr Christopher McHugh being irritated with the rapid exit from the Church after Mass, "imposed" a few moments of prayer while kneeling. Despite the many manifestations of the Novus Ordo through the subsequent decades, that practice lives on in my Parish; as does the Novus Ordo.
We have one "TLM" Church in our Diocese (Burlington) that I attend as often as possible and I am most grateful for my current Pastor who privately celebrates the Tridentine Mass and is the only Priest who is allowed to relieve the Pastor at the one TLM Church. As you can suspect, this very young Priest has brought a renewed reverence to the NO Mass, and it's benefits are notable. We pray for the day when the Latin Mass will again be widespread. In Him!
Amen! Your young pastor is not the only one like this; there are many who await the day when the TLM will be liberated. I would appreciate it if more of them took a bolder step of continuing with the TLM in spite of prohibition, as was necessary in the 1970s to ensure the continuation of tradition; but I realize that not all tradition-loving priests are ready for such a step.
We have a new Bishop who was called from among the ranks of our own Priests, a wonderful man, but he's been in this office only 6 mos and has graciously allowed many changes (including allowing this young Priest to cover the absences - prior to that the TLM priest had to seek someone from FSSP or not take time off, grrr), but this early in assuming that office I don't think he's ready to challenge the Pope {yet}.

Absolutely right! Of course it's traditional to pray it with the Rosary too. And every time I pass a Masonic Temple, I pray it.

thank you for your response
I quite understand, and I'm glad to hear that the new bishop has been friendly so far.
