Much deserved! It will probably end up being the most widely read article of Adoremus that month, given how much it's been shared around (you probably saw that Fr. Z mentioned it as well).

I didn't see that, thank you for letting me know (and for notifying Fr. Z about my article)!

I should also mention that there was a section which the editors didn't include in my original article, related to the confusion of roles in the liturgy. Here is the full sentence:

"In so doing, much of the mystery and universality of the Sacraments is destroyed through a false democratization, as extraordinary ministers fill the sanctuary while the priest and deacon return to their seats, the faithful receive the Eucharist on the hand and de facto self-communicate, and the role of altar server, long used as an apprenticeship in the priesthood for boys, is opened to girls, all of which then vary by diocese and parish, with the effect of localizing the Liturgy and profaning the holiness of the sanctuary."

Wow, that excluded paragraph is powerful and so accurate! You can see how uncomfortable defenders of the Novus Ordo are, because at the end of the day, it's simply not traditional, and even anti-traditional, in many ways. In my book "Ministers of Christ" I talk about how there was an unbroken tradition of minor orders (porter, exorcist, acolyte, lector) and subdeacon from the earliest centuries to the 20th century, and of course only male.

Your book was actually the main inspiration for this section of my article. As you said in an interview (I forget which one), although these minor orders had fallen into semi-disuse by the time of Vatican II, it would've been better to revive and promote them rather than simply discard them, especially based on antiquarian principles. Perhaps they were one of the elements felt to be too offensive to Protestants which the architects of the Novus Ordo wanted to excise.

I loved David Torkington's piece in Crisis this week. We need more calling out of the BS all around us - with charity in clarity of course:). Safe travels! Oh, and I very much enjoyed your interview with Eric Sammons - so much so I shared with all my family. A young nephew recently engaged and learning his faith said he can't wait to watch. There's always hope!

I wish I could also trace the steps of St. Paul as you will be doing! I’ve been called back to Paul’s words on “the Fruit of Light” over and over as God is pointing me toward a philosophy of education. (You can read about it on my blog on Two Doves Press, if you’re interested.) If, while on your journey, you would offer a prayer for clarity in these efforts, I would greatly appreciate it!

Thank you. Two books that meant a lot to me regarding education (besides Newman):

I have begun to so look forward to Friday and the weekly Roundup. There are always several things to investigate. I don't doubt that "Turned Around" will help in repairing the "mean Trads" image.

Is there a non-comments e-mail address where you can be reached? Safe travels and thank you for the prayers!

Thanks! I enjoy putting together the Friday roundup too. It helps me mentally "process" the week that's just passed.

As for contacting me, you could either do so via my website (www.peterkwasniewski.com/) or via my NLM email over at New Liturgical Movement.
